The Bunny Suicides and The Guinea Pig Pleasant Surprises

Jack has just come back from town with this hysterical book called 'The Bunny Suicides' which is a collection of cartoons by Andy Riley. Jack and I used to snigger over it in Waterstones, but now he has got his very own copy. As my sense of humour runs to the very black I love this book and here is a sample cartoon.

However, because I want to try to keep this blog as nice as is possible I have done some nice cartoons using this book as the inspiration called 'The Guinea Pig Pleasant Surprises', inspired by my own furry twosome.

What a captivating title!
Is that bunny doing the 2 fingered salute? lol. How rude! ;)
I had trouble seeing yours (my eyes, sorry) but if it reflects what I thought I saw in the bunny one I am sure it is a bit of a giggle. Great to see this (well sorta see! lol) side of you. Have fun!

I did it in pencil and it didn't show up very well so I've gone over it in felt tip. Didn't want to deprive the world of my artistic masterpieces.

Do go on Bev. I love your interpretation and laughed my head off. You are too funny.

I think they are great. You are a skilled drawer - or should that be pencil-smith. At least the lines are definite and it is clear what everything is - not like my attempts at drawing. Yay Bev - another chance at fame and fortune! After the problems with the Dog Star and your enchanted garden cum bath-tub, this may be your opportunity.

Bev, you slay me! What a splendid imagination you have. Like Bobbie, I laughed my fool head off. How clever and wickedly funny you are to come up with so many variations on The Good Life according to a guinea pig.

I like how you took the opposite approach of Riley's idea and made it your own.

Encore! Encore! Please do not deprive the world any longer of your masterpieces of drawings and humor.

LOL Frances.

Thanks, this took some doing and I might go on drawing evening class. How can you have a naive cartoon?

OK, I might do some more, as it is a most enjoyable activity on a Saturday night when you are a little bit tipsy, but notice how I can still draw fairly straight lines....

BTW I notice your change of blog title - hmmm - are you trying to attract a more varied audience, getting bored with middle aged housewives? tee hee

LOL Frances. I'm just trying to attract any new audience, and I thought trying this might help, though they are sure to be sadly disappointed.

Very good, Bev. You are truly a funny and masterful woman. Could you be a cartoon artist yourself? Are we discovering a hidden talent? Where did Jack get his artistic qualities anyway? So many questions, so few answers!

Keep them coming, Bev.

Hi Beverly,

These are very funny! You know what they say .. make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold.

I think that makes us the gold.
